  • Just had to give the iMM-6 mic a try

Thought I would post a comparison of the iMM-6 mic using its calibration file vs. the iPad mini mic using the default calibration in FFT.

Given the low price of the iMM-6, I think it was worth it. Even if just to reassure that FFT isn't very far off.

The green line is the iMM-6 mic, white is the iPad mini mic. First pic is 1/6 octave smoothing vs. full octave smoothing in the second pic.

Interesting. So help me out here. What were the measurement conditions...what was the setup? I just got an iMM-6 a few days ago but haven't even plugged it in yet.

Don't listen to me - I have not sold any $150,000 speakers.

Re: Just had to give the iMM-6 mic a try

I ran the output from the ipad into my desktop amp (Audiosource AMP100), played pink noise from within FFT. The mic was about 16" from the speaker, which I placed at the edge of the desk.

I tried the sine wave sweep, but prefer the pink noise as you can see the response react as you move the ipad around.

Nothing fancy I know. Some might consider this joke, but it's more convincing to me than measurements I got with the Behringer mic and speaker workshop.

Thanks Johnny, I did not see those threads.

Scanned them for a link to that $4 cable but didn't find it, would you mind posting it?

Just curious - and I apologize in advance if the answer is buried in a previous thread - but has anyone compared the response before and after loading the calibration file? Just curious how close they might be "out of the box". I purchased one of these little guys 6 mos. or so ago, and still haven't had a chance to play around with it.
