    In most situations. Manufacturing methods have changed greatly in the last 300 years. Glues, plywood and so on. The appearance of french polished shellac is quite unique however and cannot be reproduced by 2k poly or other catalyzed finished.

      As an amateur guitar building hack, I prefer french polish for my acoustic guitars....no spray rig, much less carcinogenic, more environmentally friendly, cheap, and has a beautiful finish that is acoustically very transparent.

      Great to see tips on this thread.
