New design: "The Cumbres"

This thread will document my latest design/project, The Cumbres. They are an 18 Litre 3-way monitor using some very good quality drivers. The enclosures have curved sides that start parallel at the bottom then narrow towards the top. Overall outside dimensions are 9" wide x 17" tall x 13.75" deep.

The bottom end will be anchored with the very capable Usher 8945A:

The midrange duties will be handled with the Morel MDM55 dome:

The top octaves will be reproduced with the Fountek NeoCD1.0 ribbon tweeter:

The enclosures are about half way completed. I used 3/4" Baltic birch for the super structure. The sides are 5 layers of 1/8" MDF and HDF. I will update this thread with pictures and measurements as the project proceeds.

Hey Craig, there is a fairly good layer of sawdust on your 5-Liter. As a Blue Blooded Mustang Man myself, I understand life has its little compromises. I noticed you use dollys to move the Steel Horse around, good idea. Great looking build, your clamping setup is quite ingenious. All the best, Mike

Luckily that is not the baffle. Most of that board will be cut away, leaving just enough for bracing and to mount the T-nuts used fasten a removable hardwood baffle.
