    Anarchy Exodus 4 + RS100P-8 + SB19

I'm in the midst of a small 3-way monitor build with the drivers stated in the title. The idea is a stand-mounted 3-way with an open back for the mid:

The tweeter and mid are on a baffle that is 15 degrees from that of the woofer. Why did I did I design it this way? I have no idea, but somehow felt compelled to to do so ;) I guess the aesthetics appealed to me.

Anyway got the boxes built and popped in the drivers to take measurements:

Fired up WinPCD, latest version 1.5, and got to work. First I was eager to find the acoustic offsets, given the baffle design. Results are here.

I totally encourage you to do a project with the Anarchy woofer; they are a great bargain. They out perform 8" SB23NRXS45's I used in a prior 3 way project. Here I think cone material makes a difference.

The downside is break up in higher frequencies, but not an issue in a 3 way.

Nice work Jclin. I've liked all 3 of those drivers in various different builds. I'm really thinking giving he anarchy's a try here soon.

Thanks again! Yes, I use sketchup at the start of every build refer to the model for drawing up the cutlist and during glue ups so I get it right

After I finished these I also was reminded of Bose too (!), but were not the original inspiration. That came from a pair of horizontal monitors built by Roman and Philarcario some years ago. My speakers also appear quite similar to Wolf's Xenolith's. Maybe a trend in the making?

Love that finish...textured vs Birch Ply, great combination!

The box shape and how you put them on their "sides" (obviously they're designed to go that way) reminds of some old Bose 201 bookshelf speakers.

They look great! I hope they sound as good as they look!

    Nice and clean!
Looking forward to hearing the speakers.
Did you model them in sketch up first?

    Thanks for the comments

Yes, I definitely plan to bring these to the next NY DIY and have other ears have a listen.

Will they be at any diy events? I'd love to hear them.

very nice finishing, but of course us Texans are partial to a Burnt Orange hue of any kind!!! Thanks for the measurements, very thorough and I agree that placement could make a big difference in a room with these.

Finally, since these are open-back, dipole midrange speakers, I wanted to know the effect of having a wall behind, vs taking the measurement in the middle of my room, as I had done with the individual drivers prior to crossover design. Red is middle of the room and Black is in listening position:

Actually the wall helps...a bit smoother from 300Hz to 1.3kHz. No surprise, these are sensitive to placement, and I had to play around a bit. But that's all part of the fun!

    Cheers,

And now measurements. This is on-axis and same distance from wall, as pictured above, i.e. normal listening position but I lifted the speakers a few feet to get them off the floor more for better gating. Measurements are good, 250Hz and above:

I was pleased with how these measured (and also how they sound ;)). Now the horizontal off-axis measurements, 0, 15, 30, 60 degrees. But obviously these will measure differently depending on whether you place the microphone toward the center or outer-wards. First the inner followed by outer measurements:
