That's the beauty of the Drivecore series. One of the input choices is RCA. I haven't installed the amp yet since I haven't finished the subs it will power. I did a receipt check and ran the XLS from an old Nikko Beta II pre. Played loud and clear with a lot of the range of the front level controls. I could get listenable level with the controls at ~0900and using the volume on the pre. I could also get the level controls up higher and still have good range on the pre, but getting pretty loud (powering fairly efficient Econowaves). If you have trouble w/ the AVR pre out, you can always add an ART Clean Box Pro. They're about $60. That's what I use from an old Kenwood pre to Behringer B2030A for my pc sound (sound card>pre>cleanbox>B2030A). HTH. Larry
