Hi Shawn. I've lost track of your email address, so I'm using this forum. Boy, neither one of our teams is doing at all well, both down 0-2. At least the Celtics can look forward to going home for their next two games!

Aren't there only 4 variables to worry about? Vas, Sd, Vd, and Mms of the PRs? Might be a little on the large size, but it should do quite well on the botom end.

Liked the idea of the Triska Subs, Thanks for kick-starting the idea of a 4-order bandpass for my car using the same driver/PRs. just one question. Have you done any modeling/testing of a larger version of the Triska using either the Reference or HF version of PEs 12 or 15 inch drivers?

    Shawn,
I just wanted to that you for developing the crossover for the 299-706 Def Techs and the SEAS 537. I tried it and I think it is great. I had used another pair with an Audax tweeter but I think I am going to like the Seas a little better. Thanks. Howard

    Hi there,
It was good to meet you in Iowa.

I have a question for you. When searching I found a post that you thought the Dayton RSS390HT 15" was a better choice than the Titanic MKIII 15". I'm pretty sure you posted that you owned both drivers. I'm curious as to your box specs on each as Ive been racking my brain on which driver to go with for HT purposes. I'm hoping that using a FBQ2496 FeedBack Destroyer Pro, that I can EQ some stuff for some music. Rock mainly, but you never know. I'm looking at a sealed 4-4.5 cubic ft. sealed box that Ive modeled in WinISD.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks alot...

    Andy B.

Crappy electronics and crappy parts. It's good to be a DIYer.

by shawn_a on 06-23-2008 at 02:44 AM
First off I need to admit an addiction of mine. I'm a Guitar Hero (and now a Rock Band) junkie. It's just clean fun to play around on these games but I've blown countless evenings horsing around on GH3 along with my buddy Donald. So we decide to take things to the next level and get Rock Band. Great game but lousy guitar controllers. Plain and simple, some of the parts are junk.

For instance, take the tilt sensor (please! take it!) and it's function. Or rather it's lack of function

The Voxxers come alive

by shawn_a on 06-19-2008 at 01:57 AM
Short and sweet on this post. I've taken the week off to slam out at least one pair of speakers before the Dayton show. Those are the Voxxers. Well, if all goes well enough, the Voxxer-M. I've already built and sold the basis of the Voxxer-S in a way, that being the Clonads which use the Usher 9950-20 tweeter (yeah, baby) and the totally underutilized Dynavox LM5004PWR woofer.

The Voxxer-M uses the Usher 9930-20 tweeter which has a little less refined motor than the 9950 but hell

Maturing: Both the speakers and the speaker builder

by shawn_a on 06-02-2008 at 02:12 AM
I'm a notoriously slow person when it comes to building speakers. Maybe its procrastination but I'm just really deliberate when it comes to putting together speakers.

I've just put together what is the final installment of my Silver Al project. This design started out as being a low-buck monitor speaker borne of some inspiration and serendipity some two years ago. That was only the beginning...

I didn't have a whole lot of time with the original Silver Al design as
