Congrats on the new baby Wolf. (Yes I should have a comma between baby and Wolf, but I thought it sounded better this way)

    Hey Wolf,
Any plans on updating the design on the Rubyks? Wanting to build something small like that and it appears the drivers are gone... What do you say? Thanks for sharing your work!

    Wolf,

I apologize for the tag abuse, I have no way of finding out who does that. If I can they will be banned. I (we) are all getting tired of babysitting this forum for some of the people that reside here.

    Ben --
Sorry I didn't get back to you re:buildabox for the last DIY event. Too much going on, etc.

If I get a nibble on the table saw, etc I could make the tent sale, etc this year. No speakers to show off -- I could use a dose of motivation, etc.

Can't say for sure but if you think it would be worth a try I might be able to put a build-a-box together to bring with me -- what size would be best?

    thanks

    Mike

    Wolf,

I noticed your posts about using standard Elmers white glue for sealing MDF edges for paint. How many coats do you use? I can't get my seams to dissappear to save my life!

    Thanks,

    Matt

Nah. I'm gonna miss it again. Gotta be in Texas that weekend for work. My travel frequency hasn't let off this year like I had hoped. Guess that's a sign of good business. Tell everyone I said hello though; surely I'll get to tag along to one of these get togethers soon.

hey wolf, I'll be placing an order a apexjr soon and was wondering.... are there any cross caps you would recommend from there? I know you've mentioned some in the past but I'm having trouble finding those posts.

    Wolf,
I was suprised, pleasantly, by your message. I will not be able to make it to Iowa. I have a new grandson and it seems that all is revolving around him. He is wonderful. My most recent speaker project is an Audax three way using a tmo25f11 tweeter, hp130z0, and ap210z0. I just got them together enough today that I can listen to them. I am impressed so far. the crossover is active at 300 and 3000. I have the tweeter and mid in a small cabinet sitting on top of the bass cabinet. This allows me to try out a lot of drivers. What are you taking to Iowa? Any surprises?
    Howard

An informative blog on pronunciations and other words that just irritate me...

by Wolf on 08-27-2011 at 05:03 PM
I'll start this off with common words in the Speaker building hobby, like manufacturers names, etc.... then dilute my focus into words that seem to get misspelled, misstated, or misunderstood frequently. We can't always get this stuff from textual bases.

Manufacturers:
Accuton; "Ack-Q-tahn", from accuracy aplenty.

Hiquphon; "Hick-uh-fahn", founded by Oskar originally for the Fried tweeters.

Visaton; (auf Deutsch) "Fee-suh-taun",

"N.E.H.D.";Writeup transmission. Critical details will follow...

by Wolf on 03-09-2011 at 05:06 PM
Codename: “N.E.H.D.”
Article composed: 8/18/2009
Designer: Ben “Wolf” Shaffer

Codename is derived from .pdf file of Purpose A below, and is a supposed mistranslation from Danish to English. Documentation stated,”No ears have died…” which is possibly meant as, “Aural presentation was pleasant...”, and thusly N.E.H.D. is the resultant moniker.

Purpose A: To use the Tymphany LAT250-004 in a design, due to its unique aesthetic and construction. This stated
