The switches are rated at 25 amps at 125 Volts. I used the same switch for both the AC side and the 30V DC side.

I can't remember offhand, but I think it was a Radio Shack switch. A round rocker switch, maybe it was a PE switch, I can't remember. It was rated pretty high on the amperage at 115V, 10-15 amps, can't quite remember off hand. They're already push-fit installed, but I'll see if I can find it for you.

  3. Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply, my design is going to be a "steampunk" inspired design and full retro as I can get. So I am trying to get everything sorted out before I start buying stuff. This is also my first build, I appreciate all the info.

    Johnny,
I will likely be using the little leads that came with the amplifier kit. There were I think 4 of them, probably 16 ga. thickness I'm guessing. They're for connecting the power supply to the amp. For the rest of the wires to and from the speaker outputs and inputs, I have a few rolls of hook up wire and speaker wire that I can use. Also some 24 ga. hookup wire to run the LED's with. The rest of the stuff, volume encoder, and it's daughter board either hook up directly to the amp unit or have built in wire bundles with connectors. I haven't got it fully figured out yet, but I'll try to keep it simple and on the cheap as much as possible for this one. The next amp build I may try to get fancier. This is my first one.
Thanks for the questions--I'm not too knowledgeable about all of this stuff, but it sure is fun to tinker with.
