Sorry for the blind message. I saw you have some experience with the Peerless 832873 5 1/4" buyout. I am using it as a mid in a MTWWWW design and can't seem to locate an original Peerless/Tymphany spec sheet. Would you happen have a file floating around?
    Thanks
    David

I had a lengthly email exchange with John Strohbeen back in October. I bought those drivers back in 1994 and put them in a pair of KLH Model 22A's cabinets that I've had since college days. I never used them much, and a few months ago I decided to replace the crossovers. Well, that's when the folks on this forum set me straight -- there was no way my project could succeed. Can you give me the volume of those cabinets? And the size of the ports?

    Hello citofur,

I saw your sig and I just had to write to you and tell you that I've got two gently used 8-inch Ohm drivers that I purchased some time ago, and am now looking for some way to use them. They were, as I understand it, in the Ohm E cabinet. I don't know what to do with them, and if I can't find a way to use them, I'd at least like to see them find a good home.

Passive HP Filter on the woofer in BR designs.

by critofur on 05-08-2010 at 10:34 PM
It's good to protect woofers against over excursion below the tuning frequency with a passive HP filter.

Not only is the woofer probably operating out of it's intended range below the tuning frequency, it's also basically useless wasted and counterproductive output since it's out of phase with the port - and , as mentioned previously, output at those low levels will cause excessive amounts of excursion.

Preventing this not only protects against damage from over excursion,

Off Topic: "Soda/Pop" and the Midwest

by critofur on 05-01-2010 at 12:12 AM
I grew up in Indiana and I never heard soda called just "pop". "Soda pop" sometimes, yes. Maybe people said pop once in a while, but I think usually people asked for a soda by saying what kind they wanted, usually - i.e.: "I'd like a Coke/root beer/ginger ale/diet Pepsi...etc...". Then again, my extended family and friends generally didn't drink sugar water beverages other than natural fruit juice. I do like Tang, when I go on a long backpack trip up in the mountains

I've just added a new Album here: The Tiny MTMs

They were built (sans crossover) in one day, well, except it's technically two days, since I worked past midnight

I've got university midterm exams this week - so - not sure when I'll have time to measure them then get to crossover modeling...
