@Nick, I would, but, I don't have tubes for it yet. My temp. contract job is finished Tuesday and I'll be on unemployment again - want to get a full time job again before I invest in tubes...
Wolf, have you had a chance to make a comparison between the blue fluff I gave you and something more widely used such as polyfill or Acoustistuff?
While I have used both polyfil and Acoustistuff, I cannot really say that I can compare how they sound. The blue is denser, and definitely has a better attenuation for the backwave, but that is really all I can tell you. I have not swapped in another to see what difference the polyfil would be by comparison.
It would be very interesting to see nearfield measurements of both high and low frequency (both near the cone and near the vent) with cabinets unstuffed, lightly stuffed, and heavily stuffed with the "Safe Touch" and with "Acoustistuff" - I believe the safe touch will be superior.
Oh, that is the Dow Safe-Touch "Acoustic and Thermal insulation". Which, AFAIK, you can only buy in Columbus. I will most likely come tomorrow, so, if anybody wants more I it's about $10 per sheet.
The SafeTouch is good cabinet stuffing, good for use behind drivers to absorb the unwanted HF backwave, and, I believe it does a better job at increasing the effective cabinet volume though not quite as good as the recycled denim stuff.
The denim stuff does not have a backing, is less smooth, and is more of a "medium dark" blue in color.
It's not like polyfil, or poly-batts, feels cottony. Very soft and smooth. Light blue in color, and on a sticky-backing for the manufacturing process. About 4"-5" thick.
So which is it?
Wolf
Well, I have a friend at a speaker company and he buys bundles of it. You would probably want to do a "group buy" to get more. I thought that what I gave you at InDIYana was something else though?: Dow "Safe-Touch Acoustic and Thermal Insulation" - is that what you are refering to? I can buy that in bundles of 6 sheets for about $10 a sheet.
Did I give you some of the shredded blue jean stuffing? It certainly does have significantly different acoustic properties than polyfil...
