Dan, I have Arrum Cantus GS2i and G3's if you want to see/hear them to consider for your project.

There is not. You might post a note that you are looking for some. Maybe someone out there has a few from the closeout that they have not ended up using. There are a number of drivers that might work, but it would take a new measurements and crossover design. I'm not sure you can get that tweeter anymore either.

Dan - I have a friend who is a master woodworking craftsman. the SuroundSounds design caught his eye. Is there a replacement for the HiVi B3A-B buyout?

    Hi Dan,
I was wondering how choose a driver for a OB design. When I look online at OB design info it seems like people use anything they want, as far as I can tell. But it seems to me that there are so many ways to build a driver that some might be better than others in this situation. Any ideas? Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi Jim,
Sorry, but I can't ive you an estimate as I simply don't recall. I built them in the spring-summer of 2007. I did the mdf build of one as a prototype, then did a lot of testing, crossover design and listening, voicing, etc. When I was convinced it was going to work, I buil the second box. Then I worked on the crossover some more using the pair. Then I finally went back and installed the veneer and did the paint and finishing. I do recall the the veneer, paint and finish took me at least a month, probably more. That was probably what took the longest. The main reason for that was the fact that Santos Rosewood is an oily veneer and I was not aware of that, so I had to deal with the oild bleeding through, etc.
I'm sorry I can't give you a more specific answer. My recollection is that they were not a particularly hard build as compared to some of my other speakers.

Dan - How many hours from start to finish would you estimate it took to construct the HOSS speakers?

    Thanks!

JRT, I had not seen that article, but what it advocates certainly looks familiar. Interesting!
