Default Now on to my 4th project. Advise need.

Hi I am now looking at my 4th project. My fisrt

was a fostex fe206e open baffle design. Sold it.

My 2nd was a two way tower for my dad for

christmas of 2004. A seas tweeter and a silver

flute 6 1/2 woofer. Mated really well both warm

sounding. My 3rd is being done now usher drivers

and soft dome tweeters. Now my 4th is going back

to the single driver design. Here is my question

for all you diyers.I am looking at the jorndan

4 1/2 inch metal driver the 92s I think. Wow weeee

alot of money is it worth it? Is the sound better

then the fostx or the lowthers? What makes it

stand out. Is it good with all types of music?

I just can not spend this kind of money and find

out it sucks or I got burned. I wish there was a

f.r.d. that did what the fostex do but, does not

have a hump or a beam in the treble. OOOOO that

really hurts my ears and leaves a bad ring also.

If you can hel pplease let me know. P.s. I am

going with the usher because the scan speak is

just to much money for me to spend now. Thanks jm

Jordans are terrific drivers. They've been around a long time. There are plenty of transmission line designs out there if you Google for them. Here's a link to a company that makes Jordan-based systems. Maybe you can get some ideas.

Looks like a giant Ipod Shuffle! Cool.

I've nothing but good things about the 92s. Search the different fullrange forums around.

Take a look at the CSS FR125 (www.creativesound.ca) drivers, they are often compared favorably to the Jordans, and definately do not have a fatiguing top end. They are also 1/2 the price so less chance of getting 'burned' on a driver whose character you don't like. Lots of info on these over at diyaudio.com.

Random is the New Order, man!

Yeah, those Jordans look sweet. After lurking/following that Carolina Audio site, I see the guy churns out about a pair a week. And sells them (depending on model) for between $1000-$3000 a set. Hmmm. There's someone that's doing what they love and earning a king's randsom.

Oh, how to get there from here...

Several excellent projects are out there on the E. J. Jordan site for the JX92S. You might start at:

    <A HREF="http://www.ejjordan.co.uk/links.html">http://www.ejjordan.co.uk/links.html</A>

That reference contains a lot of good designs and links.

Additional designs are linked from the Jordan site. For a ML-TL I highly recommend Greg Monfort's designs at:

    <A HREF="http://www.ejjordan.co.uk/diy/index.html">http://www.ejjordan.co.uk/diy/index.html</A>

I have a more recent combo of the JX92S and a Aurum Cantus G2si which is a killer mini-monitor design. Details at:

    <A HREF="http://www.creativesound.ca/pdf/JX92SG2siDesignPak.pdf">www.creativesound.ca/pdf/JX92SG2siDesignPak.pdf</A>

and Atlanta 2004 DIY info on this speaker at:

    Good luck! An excellent driver.

    Jim
