Default New Behringer A500 amp 2 ohm stable?

Usually a "pro" amp will be stable down to 2 ohms, stereo. I can't find any information on these amps as to whether or not they can take a 2 ohm load.

Anyone care to take a guess or has experience with one of these?

    Thanks!

    Default Doesn't look like it.

Quoting the product manual "Keep in mind the minimum power impedance of 4 Ohms per channel in stereo mode. When in mono-bridged mode, a loudspeaker whose impedance is at least 8 Ohms must be used."

Kind of a bummer but I half expected it. I'm gonna stick with my Crown XLS amps and be happy I think.

I don't want to get on a big rant here, but neither the Behringer copy or the Alesis it was copied from can be considered true Pro amplifiers. At best they are dirt cheap pro-style wanabees. This is absolutely the low end of the market down there with Pyle and Samson, targeted at the solo musician running a home studio type setup. There's a long long way to go between these pieces and a Crown MA series, or QSC PL.

    > I agree these won't hold a candle to a Crown, the price tag still makes then a good option for fan free home use. I don't think even Behringer thinks anyone is going to trash an R-1 and slap these in the rack.

    >>Samson,

I've seen some Samson internal pics and it looked
like it was better engineered than Crown XLS
from a 'robust' point of view.

    /hehe

I seen A500 internal pics, it looks like a
DIY amp project you see on the forums, very
    bare bones.

Bare bones doesn't mean bad, but I would bet
it's not over engineered and the specs are
    too optimistic.

It comes down to what your expectations are.
$179 for A500 is not bad, but it's not a monster
    pro amp. /hehe

can you post the internal pics of this amp. I was considering 2 of these to do a set of active line arrays however the couple reviews there have been for them dont seem very good.
