Carvin and Yamaha

Thanks for the responses about power amps. Has anyone else used Carvin amps - specifically the DCM2570? Also, has anyone else used the Yamaha P7000S? Both of these amps look apealing to me, but I always like to get 2nd opinions :-) "In the mouth of two or more a thing is established and made sure."

I had been considering the QSC RMX2450, but have read reports that QSC amps ratings are not honest and they are not as efficient as other amps. I am running 2 pairs of Dayton 18's wired for 4 ohms a pair. I believe peak is 750 watts (if memory serves me correctly).

Ahh.. the RMX series certainly aren't as efficient as the PLX, or the Yamaha, but the QSC ratings are for real. QSC is a big name in Pro audio, you can trust their published specs. If you only want that much power the P5000s world compare well with the RMX 2450 or PLX 2402 at 4ohm/ch, and it's less exepensive than the P7000, though only by $100. But more power is always better. > I have used quite a few carvin products and have been amazed everytime. Prior to Carvin, I used Crown. My suggestion is to look at all of the high quality parts that go into the Carvin. Other brands you would usually have to pay much much more for to get those kind of parts. Plus check out how low their thd is on their amps.

I still haven't made up my mind, but am seriously considering the Yamaha. I have a couple of QSC RMX 1450's and am very pleased with them. So, I wasn't trying to bad mouth QSC, just sharing what I read. I really love their 6 year warranty. I can't find any info on Yamaha's warranty, but the Carvin has a 3 year one.

Paul, thanks for the links. The reviews were helpful. I do want the extra power (even at the extra cost), but again the lack of warranty info on Yamaha is not encoouraging. I think I'll sleep on it and look again at them tomorrow.

3 years parts and labor on Yamaha Power amps... right off the Yamaha USA web site.

I went from Carver to Carvin. I'm using a DCM 1000 on mids and a DCM 2500 on subs. The difference in sound is big. The DCM's blow away Carver in every respect, especially midrange.
The Carvers in comparison are the M-1.0t and a TFM-55.

Aaww, be fair. I did say I wasn't flaming QSC. AND I do own 2 of them, both of which I am very pleased with. The only reason I am considering a different brand is I need more power and the other QSC's are out of my price range. I take it back and most definitely will not dis QSC anymore :-)
