The answer is, you don't. The heart of every Tom Danley servomotor-driven subwoofer is a servo motor, which is a separately available component. However, these motors typically aren't designed to withstand high drive levels. The rotary-to-linear motion converter was also a Tom Danley design. The only way to get a servomotor-driven sub is to buy a Contrabass or a Basstech 7 from Sound Physics Labs.

Default Why not try a ...

DC motor, pair of Dayton 12"PR's, and a pair of slap-wraps? It seems the PR's to wrap to DC motor would work, provided the motor CAN do a square wave, and respond to DC pos one way, and neg the other. Slap-wrap to PR may require some clever mounting, and must be profile-curved for stiff cone-forcing. Must curve once off the motor shaft. Difficult, but possible, maybe.

You're not crying 'Uncle' over horn building already are you?

I hear that street price is about $3500 on those things.

Warren, I used to get beat up when I was little because I would never say "Uncle" to the older kids. So no stupidly designed horn is going to take me down. I was just curious about the servo's. Robert.

And as you can see from your responses, 'servo' subs could mean a couple of entirely different things.

I used to get beat up too - but it was only because I was physically unable to defend myself. If only I had speakers back then (or "a fully charged phasor bank").

Did you get any damage where you live in Texas? I used to live in Royce City, TX.

Nothin' but a lot of wind. Not even a drop of freaking rain. I live in Lavon, about 11 miles from Royce City. We had some thunder boomers come through here the other day and we got higher winds than we got from Rita. Small hail, too. It was 104, then a cold front came through.

Near the top for your viewing ease. I have not done this, and it may not work, but I'll send a pic to the forum.
