bridge rectifier
Anyone familiar with replacing a bridge rectifier.
I am replacing one ( rated @ 6A ), in an old SAE 31B power amp. I have a service manual, but don't see a voltage rating.
Voltage off the secondary is +/- 40V. I have read that rated values should be at least double the max current/voltage supplied to it.
PE has a NTE bridge rectifier rated @ 6A/400V, would this be too much on the high side for voltage?

What is the PR Part number? If it is cheap don't sweat it, just use it. The "perfect" rectifier probably costs just as much. If not, go to <A HREF="http://www.mouser.com">www.mouser.com</A>. They're all about descrete components.

Rectifiers are cheap. I bought a 25A 800V
one for under $6. You can over engineer the rectifier needs.

Sorry, what I meant was would a 400v be overkill as far as voltage .

That is the PIV peak inverse voltage the diode can survive when reverse biased. Since your application will nowhere near approach that voltage, it will be fine.
Kinda like putting V rated tires on your car. You can enjoy the improved handling even if your car can't attain 148 mph.
