Default My T-amp DJ gig *PIC*

My wife hosted a birthday party for her dad on Saturday. I was elected to bring the music and set up on my father-in-law's deck outside.

I wasn't looking forward to lugging all the stuff needed -- pair of speakers, CD player. CDs, and amps, cables, etc. I dreaded the idea of draggin' over something like my dB717TLs and a Hafler DH500 or pair of M-1 monoblock amps.

Then, it came to me. I dug out the SI T-amp I bought a couple of months ago and never really used. That plus a little pair of vented two-ways with Vifa TC26 tweet and TC11 4" woofer. It all sat in the passenger seat of my pick up.

And it actually sounded pretty darned good. Loud enough for the audience (mostly octogenarians) and without overly disturbing the neighbors. The T-amp definitely runs out of steam trying to push larger speakers to loud levels (although still surprising), but at moderate levels, it's very enjoyable especially in a situation like this.

BTW, as is guaranteed in situations like this, one of the old folks volunteered that he had a friend who had a Bose system and how magnificent it was...

He is far too polite to have said to the fellow: "Are you *%^)#$! crazy?"

I have one that still looks like that...

    and still works.

I have another one that looks beautiful - really tiny and ultra portable (pocket sized), real jacks, nice aluminum knub, aluminum case...

    that doesn't work.

apparently the magic smoke got lost somewhere, but I didn't see any of it.

anyway, sorry to threadjack - i was trying to do something else to get my mind off of all the little tiny solder joints I had worked that were for naught...

    ok, done whining.

maybe I'll open the working one and steal its board.
