Default Wayne J's "70's" designs sound like...

I am getting cabinets made for Wayne J's Veritas' desin(the XT25 version).

The Rev himself states for both the Veritas and Lyra projects that he was striving for the sound of the popular 70's speakers.

I have a good working pair of the original Advents (refoamed woofers and rebuilt crossovers w/Dayton audio caps). The Advents play really nice. I know the Advents are 2-way and not 3-way, but am wondering if others here had compared either the Veritas or Lyra's sound to the actual GOOD 70's speaker designs (Advent Infinity KEF etc etc etc)?

If so, can you comment please.

I just built the Lyra with the titanium tweeter for my stepson, and auditioned them for a couple days.

They have nice extended deep bass. It sounds subectively pretty flat to the low 30s with room gain..in my livingroom.

The midrange is very pleasant and the crossover between the tweeter and the mid sounds pretty much seamless to me. The titanium tweeter sounds much better than the price would lead me to expect.

The mids are somewhat recessed, and this may be the "70s" sound. Take into consideration that I'm using Maggies now, so am a convert to very open sounding mids and boxlessness.

    Appreciate the comments Ron.

Sounds like the Lyra (building a set with the Soft Dome) and the Veritas (with the Vifa XT25) will appeal to me as I am seeking the "Big Fat Round Tone" that the best of some 70's designs provided.

    Thanks again...
