The Drake

I really like the Drake subwoofer project, but want to know how it differs from the Titanic kits. I know the components are different, but what is each sub's strengths/weaknesses?

It really comes down to the driver. The Drake project is just a well-written description of how Darren arrived at his decisions on the box alignment and overall project tuning. So, if we look at the drivers:

Titanics: Lots & lots of excursion, lots & lost of power handling, lots & lots of low-end boom and rumble. Like an elephant gun.

RS Series: A little less of the above, but with more finesse and uber-low distortion. Like a sniper rifle.

Both of them have serious stopping power. The Titanics are well suited for home theater & throwing things from the walls, but they're not really the best music subs. That's where the RS steps in. Sure, it can play pretty loud, too, but that wasn't the primary design goal. The RS was designed to play "pretty loud" and sound good while doing it.
