    Default best stuff to stuff

playing around in WinIsd last night I discovered that if I plug my big sub, I end up with a Qtc of .48, close to the .5 I have seen referred to here lately as ideal by some pretty knowledgeable folk. So I have these two 4" flared ports to temporarily decomission. Lacking a solid rubber plug I am trying to Magyver the best from normal household recources. I am I wasting gray matter here or should I follow Dad's advice of yore and "put a sock in it"?

Actually, socks work pretty well. I did it and measured the impedance afterwards and it did a pretty darn good job of sealing off the vent. Of course a 4" flared is going to take a lot of socks :-).

biff, IIRC, one of the guys here used a nerf ball; a football, I think. I tried it and it stays in place well and allowed me to experiment with the sound of my sub, sealed vs ported. I'm not sure if it would fit in a 4" port, but it works great in my 3".
