    Default Soundeasy Install Question

I installed Soundeasy in my laptop which runs Windows XP. I then plugged in the USB dongle which prompted Windows to try and recognize the new software, which XP does not. Per the instructions I tried to run "InstDrv.exe" without success, the message I get is 'cannot find this program'. Does anybody have some suggestions. Thanks, Ernie Cornick

What version of SE are you installing?

If it is an older one the Rockey software on the CD may not be compatible with XP.

If you search the Sound Easy Yahoo group i posted a link to the latest Rockey software. Or if you go here you will be able to find it yourself:

You error message does sound strange. I would try the latest Rockey software first.

I don't have this software, but in the instruction manual in section 18.8 it states you run "InstDrv.exe" from the CD. This puts the driver file "RockUsb.sys" in the Windows\system32\drivers directory.

Thanks for the response. I am currently at work so I cannot try your suggestions at the moment. The software is version 11 and I seem to remember an error block with "Rocky" or something similar. Thanks, Ernie Cornick

Ya, if you are getting a rockey error then i would try installing the latest driver.

I am pretty sure you need the Rockey 4 software.

I got it working! With the CD loaded I clicked the 'RUN' button. Within the 'RUN' window I clicked the 'Browse' button which brought up Dongle_Drv. I clicked on this which brought up D:\Dongle_Drv\InstDrv.exe. I clicked on the OK button, and low and behold, 'ROCKEY' installed. If you mess with something long enough..............
