Default Looking for Power Amp Kits

Im just looking for a power amp or amps that are kits that have been tested and created. I've seen several here on this board.
Im looking for somthing that dose at least 80watts RMS a channle. The reason why im asking for this is because im hoping that who ever has built the kit will have printouts to build the pcb board and have a complete matching parts list.

By the time you pick up all the parts yourself and then get a PCB made, your cost will not be much different than stuff like the kits offered at chipamp.com and similar.

A lot less headache.

I think that's what he wants, just a step by step process of how to built te kit??????

I'm also interested in these kits and if they're 4 ohm stable.

The LM4780 I'm building is rated at 100w/ch at 8 ohms, and about 120w/ch at 4 ohms. You can look up the National Semiconductor site for the datasheet. Class D and T amp kits are also available at www.41hz.com and www.hypex.nl. Ampslab.com is another site I like. Elliott Sound Products at www.sound.westhost.com will sell you a PCB and a bill of material, so you can shop for the components yourself. If you really want to do things the hard way, the datasheets from National and Tripath include PCB schematics.

I recommend Seal Electronics kits. I think there are several available between 100 and 400 watts. They are designed by G. Randy Slone, a well respected electronics author and amp designer. I bought one of the 200 amp kits and I'm just waiting on a custom made chassis to finish the project. The North American distributor is Brad Wilson at bradwilson@telu s.net

One idea;
If you are a thrillseeker, the 10 transistor
Leach amp clone looks nice, excellent PCB layout
and plenty of support at DIYaudio.com

It's not a kit as you have to grab the parts
yourself.

Just one kit, Trevor. The LM4780 is a stereo chip capable of 60w/ch. The kit sold by chipamp.com or diyfidelity.com has 2 mono boards, each with 1 LM4780. You can build a 4 channel amp, or a stereo amp by bridging the board.

Default Why DIY an amp?

There are lots of modules that you can combine with an appropriate power supply and chassis. But not many whole kits.

The issue here is that, with some learning and experience, it is not hard to build your own amps, using freely offered circuit layouts. Only you have to learn how things wire up, how to layout the PCB, how to add the right power supply, how to wire it and fit it into a chassis, etc.

With no experience, you have to build from a kit. And, in that case, why not go for one of the minimal tube amp designs that they have quite a few of.

That way, you end up with something quite special, for not much money.

You can buy a S-S amp for a hundred bucks on eBay anyway. Do you really need 80W?

I've got two of the 6 transistor leach-clone boards, and no time to shop the parts...shoot me an email if your interested.

The LM4780 kits from chipamp.com are real easy. Just add an Avel toroid transformer from PE, a little bit of hardware (switches, speaker terminals) and you are well on your way.

As for power, it offers a surprising amount. Feels like a fair bit more than the typical "100 watt" specials at your local electronics store.
