I was possibly looking at doing a mid tweet mid woofer speaker.
After further reading it looks like a mtm is used alot for extended low frequency response which wouldnt really be neccessary in my situation.

mids are ~2 1/4
SPL: 88 dB 1W/1m

woofer is 5.25" about 85-86db 1w/1m.

I will have seperate amps for the 5.25" and could go active on the mids and tweets if neccessary.
Should I just go with a usual 3way or is there some added benifit I havent seen?

I haven't heard/used any of those. But usually, people do an MTM using a high quality tweeter, and two woofers in order to raise efficiency to 90dB or above.

You have there a small tweeter for very high stuff, a tweeter/mid and a midbass...to use as a woofer? It seems a waste of time to use these in a 3way. Why not a quality 1" tweeter, the 5" as a midrange and a 12" woofer. Now, you're talking.

I bet a Fostex single driver would beat your proposed 3-way, in efficiency, smoothness of response, and even deepness of bass. And it would be cheaper too.

I wasnt sure if there was any other sonic advantage to have 2 mids but I guess not.
It seems like alot of it was for the low end/effiency which wouldn't isnt important in my case. I have the woofers and the mids so cost of those isn't important.
I want to use these on the computer so 12" are out of the question. I'll be using a pair of 10" for subs though(:
