Thread: fm module

  1. #1

    Default fm module

i have a bose system on my infiniti fx45 with 0.2MHz/ step radio. i would like to do something to make it 0.1MHz / step.
    how can i do that???

.2 MHz is 200,000 Hz. Human hearing is typically defined as 20 to 20,000 Hz. I doubt that even bose would use such large steps but I could be wrong. Changing them would be no small feat but would be far easier if you could get a schematic from them.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I though you were talking audio equalizer. You would still need a schematic and even that might not be enough. It could be as easy as soldering / unsoldering a diode or far more complex.

It would probably require reprogramming the controller in the radio, something you're not likely to be able to do. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to change the frequency step size?

The fm band is channelize in 200k steps, so why would you want 100k steps, But the are some sub carrier signals, if this is what you are tying to get the recievers selectivity will not work with the very low deviation signals.

Well, if he's in any other country besides the US, he's got legitimate reasons.

thank you for your replies guys.
yes i do live in QATAR where our signals are in 0.1MHz steps.
i still think it should be a matter of swapping the fm module with one that was made for our region. but our infiniti dealer does not think so.
we do have here in qatar fx35 with similar radio and 0.1MHz step then where is the prob?????

The problem is with the microprocessor (the brains) in the radio. It only responds the way it was programmed. It basically takes a value that is displayed on the radio and converts to a tuning voltage at the FM module: 0.1Mhz steps are finer tuning voltage steps.

You may try contacting Infiniti/Nissan directly to see if there is an internal switch or jumper (some exist) or a reprogramming menu option from the front panel.

Otherwise, the dealer should be able to install a radio from your location into your vehicle.
