    Default Line Array progress *PIC*

Hello:I am making good progress on my Line Array project nicknamed the "Sequoias"...since they are quite tall and trimmed with Redwood I thought it was an appropriate name!...I still have many hours of work ahead of me,bass cabinets and all of the custom electronics will keep me busy during the winter.

This will be an active system powered by multiple chip-amps.I used 4-1/2 buyout mid-woofers(Vifa-299-492)and the Dayton Neo's.I have spent $160 for all the drivers so far, quite reasonable!...

I am still undecided on the bass drivers,I have 2 Dayton 15 inch series two drivers on hand,I might go with them unless PE comes through with some RS subs at a discount.
I am at least 3 months away from completing this monster but it has been fun so far.

    Regards Bob C.

Where are you going to cross them at? Lately I can't seem to get my bottom outside in the cold to start/finish any of my projects. Boy am I getting old or probably just lazy. Where do you think I should cross my NSB at it I use the same tweeter as you? Thanks Robert. Robert.

Robert: My 3-way crossover(24dB/oct) will be adjustable,so I will have plenty of latitude in tweaking the final x-over point.I would estimate 125 hz crossover from woofer to mid-bass and anywhere between 3.5 khz to 4 khz for the Neo's.How many drivers will you be using for your design?.

BTW- I work through the winter in my detached garage, when I rebuilt the garage a few years ago I insulated the walls for noise reduction and heat retention, so I can use a small ceramic disc heater to keep the hands warm!...

Dirk: I will be using a programmable active crossover of my own design, a 3-way Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/oct, controlled with a PicMicro.

    Hey Robert,

Knowing you, the line array will be packed with all kinds of electronic goodies, automation, etc... Great design!

Who do you think we are on this forum? A bunch of bleeding-heart environmentalists??? Hey, we use contact cement, wood glue, generate saw dust, pump out loud decibels, and destroy quite a few trees in the process...

Default White Ash and His Mighty Sequoias

Looking good enough to make me ill again, Bob...er White Ash. I wondered who had bought all of those buyouts. Guess I know now who has quite a few of them. I would say wait for the RS subs. They are worth it. Again, great job Bob.

even though its rectangular, it still looks rather good !!!! well done !

obviously not overly concerned about combing from the tweets, or they would be closer together. please lets us know if you can hear any evidence of such, I suspect not. !

Andy: I have a CTC of 2-7/16,I could have brought them closer but I compromised a bit for aesthetic reasons.

I won't have these operational for at least 3 months,I am building an active crossover for this beast. My aversion to passive crossovers is equal to your "Rectangularphobia".

    Thanks for the + comments

I keep an archive of awesome looking speakers, and I'm glad to say yours have been added =)

Are those dipole speakers or are they sealed? It's hard to tell from the pic. Any chance of getting an *** shot? =P

Christian:These will be sealed boxes, nothing is wired up yet,so I did not take a rear end photo..
    Box dimensions are 4ftH X 6" deep.

    Thanks Bob C.
