Old Men, Beer and Speakers *PIC*

Jon Pike and I had a New Year mini DIY get together in SoCal (my house in Placentia). We had a great time chatting about drivers, amps, speaker construction, beer, then headed to Little Saigon for dinner. I hereby declare Jon my fellow Asian brother, since he was able to handle chopsticks without soiling his shirt or starving to death. And no, he didn't do the dishonorable thing by asking the waiter for a fork and spoon. Jon brought down a stack of his favorite CDs, so we put my new MTM to the task. I'll finish up the sub portion today, and hopefully we'll get together again.
Happy New Year Everyone.

Re: Old Men, Beer and Speakers
Sounds like you two had an enjoyable (and sane) time. Jon, an intelligent and pretty nice guy, and I worked at the same place a few years ago before I retired and he was just starting to get into DIY speakers then.

But where are the dancing girls???
Actually Hong, I had a fleeting thought that you might have been in Indiana sometime in the past. I was dropping off the baffles for JayC's Triunes and right outside his front door, scratched into the concrete walkway was your last name and the date after it. I laughed about that the rest of the day for some odd reason and kept saying "Hong is haunting me."
Sounds like it was a good way to spend the day for you guys out there. Yet another reason why this hobby rules.

Thanh and Kim Nguyen. Good friends and he is also a good boss!
Now that would be a long road trip. Any takers? J/K. Mmmm. Beer and some gear for your ear. We need to start a club (locally, of coarse) or something.

Re: But where are the dancing girls???
Did you happen to see my wife in the background there Shawn, keeping a vigilant eye on us, to make sure that no dancing girls were around? Big sister is always in the picture, checking on the bank statement, checking what's going on inside the garage, checking the front porch for the PE packages...

Paul,
Your name came up quite frequently during our conversation. Jon holds you in very high esteem. Hope to meet you one of these days.

Oh, I don't know about that Paul.. I let Hong drive us to the restraunt!! ;-)
Really great Vietnamese food... I think we kept away from the non-farm domestic animal dishes, I was wondering about that Cat Fish plate... but it was all very good!
Had a great time finally meeting Hong and family, talking speakers, etc. It's good to find a member of the "brotherhood" in the same county. Realize I need to get my **** in gear and build some more stuff to catch up with this guy. Hey, my wife isn't complaining yet, I must be lagging!
I'll get back over there soon Hong... let me know if you need to borrow my 240W plate amp for the test fire of the bass stands.
