Default First project finished!! Peerless two way

    Provided Link: Blair's Two way

I just finished my first diy project thanks to many helping hands at this board namely Dave Thomas and Bill Currier. It was first supposed to be the Garnet II from Lou C's site, but my drivers were a little different. These use a 850-234 midbass and an 811-830 tweeter. After building the x overs for the garnets, though they sounded good, they were a bit forward and suffered from a slight lack of bass tones.

With the help of Dave Thomas, This was remedied through design of a better crossover for the drivers used and the addition of a little bsc.

They sound incredible, and though I am no expert carpenter, look pretty good. They have magnets imbedded in them for invisible grill guides mostly because I like the looks without grilles and will probably use them without (girlfriend wants grills on them)\

    Oh well here pics:

Good job. What is the internal volume of the enclosure?

Those look great, mighty fine especially for your first pair, can't tell you've not been making 'em for yrs! Better than mine are turning out, but very similar--I'm using a custom version of that tweeter, and a 831990 Peerless 5.25" sealed midwoofer.
What's your toughts on their imaging... I'm shocked how good these drivers sound together, the "point source" imaging is really good between these particular drivers... what do you think?

I am never surprised at how "good" Peerless projects sound. They make an excellent woofer, but their tweeters generally are not quite as good.
I especially like their slightly larger woofers (6.5-8" range) for two way bookshelf speakers.

Default Thanks everyone 7 liters ? on imaging answer.

They image extremely well. They have very good off axis as well. With the tweeter at ear level and a decent recording, you lose center on vocal and hear crisp dispersion of left and right instruments. The unfortunate part is how much I like them cause they will only serve as rear and rear center once I complete one more. I have a three way tower using dual 8 inch hi vis and an mtm design all using the same midbass and tweeters. I take my time, so don't hold your breath on seeing these next month or anything. I am very impatient, but nervous about messing up with my projects especially since these are foir the most part all buyout parts.

    Thanks again everyone
