    Default New T-Amp Measurements

    Provided Link: New T-AMP measurements

    Hello all you T-Amp fans.
If you are interested in the Tripath based amps, such as the Sonic Impact and the Super-T sold here, or any of the other variations, you probably know my site.

There are a bunch of new measurements up for your enjoyment. 4 different T-Amps were measured. All the graphs were plotted on the industry standard Audio Precision. These are all real world results with real world lumps and bumps, not the pretty smoothed out and optimized graphs you see on manufacturers sites. More like the results you will really get in day to day usage.

Check it out at the link below.

I love the price/performance ratio of the SI T-amp. But, the FR and crosstalk results are NOT pretty. Makes me wonder about the review that raved about the performance in comparison to a SET in dual mono. Those characters are usually very sensitive to width and depth of soundstage, and I thought crosstalk would kill imaging on a premium system.

I may build the 41hz.com Amp1B sometime in the future but instead decided to go with the Hypex UcD180 first because a lot of people rave about it. Do you have any idea how the UcD180 compares with the Tripath chips? I'll probably find out eventually if I build the Amp1B but am still curious about your impressions of the two technologies.

I have to wonder about those reviews, too...
But I don't have the same system those guys have, so who knows? I do know that that the stock Sonic Impact sounds pretty bad to me. Lots of detail, yes, but way too many other problems.

However I am grateful to the reviews because they put me and a great many others on the path of Tripath amps. Done right, they DO sound really great.

I have not heard the UcD/Hypex modules. A few people who have compared them to the Tripath chips say they sound much the same, hard to tell them apart. Of course, the UcD/Hypex lovers won't tell you that! ;-)
