Planning to refurb. old Speakerlab Super 7s
A friend has a pair of these things in which the woofers are suffering from foam surround rot. They have been in storage and I have not seen them in a long time. I think he said the veneer is mostly trashed. I'm going to take a shot at using the kits PE sells to fix them (10 inch; would also need the equivalent 12):

Anyone used these kits? How hard is it?
I plan to check the caps and replace them if they are electrolytic. He says I can buy the speakers if I want. Don't see much on E-Bay; what are they likely worth?
I thought the Foster leaf tweeters on these sounded great years ago, but crossing from a 6.5" MW at what, 6k, sounds like a recipe for horrendous beaming, and probably ragged freq. resp. in the upper midrange. I guess I will just listen and decide (if I get them working properly).

Boy, that brings back some memories! The kits are fairly easy to do...I've done it for a pair of the first Speakerlab 7's. The instructions are good and as long as you clean off all the old foam and use the shims to keep the voice coil centered, you should have no trouble.
