OT: A better duskmask
Provided Link: Example (I have no affiliation with this link)
I work at a hospital and they started using a new mask for respiratory isolation which is a lot nicer to wear. It it the 3M model 9211 N95 and the thing that is the better part about it is that it has a flapper valve. That lets you exhale freely so you don't feel like you're slowly suffocating like you do with other higher grade filtration masks. If it's more comfortable, you'll wear it longer and it will be more effective.
Even though I know I should wear duskmasks more often, I usually don't. With this one, I probably will. Maybe we can get PE to carry this one!

Re: OT: A better duskmask
I would be open to it but I'm a bit worried about availability of large quantities. It looks like they can't keep the things on the shelf. I might just go ahead and order up 10 of them for a test run. After this weekend of not wearing a dust mask (call me dumbass now) I'm paying for it with this lovely headache I have. Feels like I'm hungover and I didn't even drink anything.

That style respirator has been out for a few years. They work great with safety glasses too. No more fogged glasses.

The 9211 dust mask is pretty good, but if you want a very good 3M dust mask see if you can find the 8233 N100. They cost more but are a much better mask. Probably the best dust mask I have ever used and I have used many different types and brands over about 30 yrs in the chemical industry. Try some of the on-line safety supply houses for sourcing.

Yep.. that exhaust valve really helps in keeping your breath from blowing out the edges and fogging glasses. I have a few 3M 8511 that I found at a local woodworking store... very similar, perhaps a step or two up. They were about $3-3.50 for single ones there, and the site that was linked has em for $2.67 each in 10 packs.
I'm a glasses wearer (full time) as well as a beard wearer.. so I'm a bigger challenge to masks.
;-)
These seal well, and are very comfortable, and should last a lot longer as well as do a better job than the cheap single panel and strap ones.

I used the masks that have the exhale valve to keep my safety glasses from fogging for quite a while, but I got a particulate respirator with replaceable cartridges. Depending on which filter you buy, they work excellent for both painting/staining and for that nasty MDF dust. A bit more bulky than a standard dust mask, but it's never been an issue or gotten in the way. And they seal MUCH better around your face than any mask I've used.
