Default Car speaker replacement

Wife has a 2001 Camry with the JBL factory sound system with two blown rear speakers. All local audio shops say nothing will work except replacing with the same JBL speakers unless we replace the entire sound system. Told me the JBL in the Camry is custom for the car, and system won't sound good just replacing speakers. Local guy referred me to this site, but I couldn't find the speaker match. Anyone help a newbie find out if Parts Express carries these speakers? Dealership price is 250+ before installation.

You should check out www.crutchfield.com Under the 'Car Audio & Video' tab you can choose your car and they'll tell you what fits (I posted a link at the bottom, but I don't know if it will work).

I don't know why they would tell you that you have to replace the whole system unless they are all 2 ohm speakers or something like that. You may have to do a little be more research, but almost all car speakers (6x9's or smaller w/brackets) should physically fit into that car, but I'm not sure how the amp is configured.

    Car Audio Shops suck.

    LOL.

The rear speakers are 2 ohms and handle about 25W.

If you (she) can handle slightly less volume, just replace them with a regular old pair of 6x9's. Keep in the mind the rear speaker location is a bit tricky in terms of mounting. You will need speaker location adapters like those shown below.
