    Default TriTrix Qs. 4 Curt

Hi Curt !!! I am new at this and I want to build the tritrix sealed design..which I think would be great for a begginer like me. My question is.... can I put the drivers on the Right or Left panels of the enclosure instead of the front baffle as you designed it? If so, does the crossover need to be tweaked? I would appreciate your help on this.

Hi M, welcome to the forum!

OK, you’ve got me going on this one: On the sides?

As far as diffraction effects are concerned, a minor change in baffle size will likely not be of any importance. Note the TL version of the TriTrix uses a 7.5” baffle with no ill effects.

Can you share with us what you are trying to accomplish? That might allow us to assist you more effectively.

Thank you for being nice to a "newbie" Curt!
The reason I want it on the sides is for aesthetic purposes. I built a pair of tall subwoofers as speaker stands and I just think that the sealed tri-trix looks better if I put the drivers on the side. The sides would be 8.25" not 7.5" as was in the TL version. Would this create any audible problems..diffractions..etc. Would the crossover need to be adjusted? If it is negligible like you said..I would just build it. Thanks for the help.

Ps...People in this forum are nice and funny sometimes.

The pic below shows the modeled diffraction effects of the woofers on a 6.5" wide baffle vs. a 8.25" baffle. Best results on the 8.25" baffle were obtained with the drivers offset .5" from their nominal postions. I suggest it would be preferable to chamfer or roundover the baffle edges if you choose the wider baffle, and I'd suggest limiting the baffle width to 7.5".

    Default Thank you Curt!

    Very nice of you!
I shall do it in 7.5" baffle!
