    Default displacement

Eminence says on their 10" beta cx (290-502)
that its "[displacement is limited to 60 watts]". Just double checking, but this means with 60 watts speaker will be at its xlim (even though it's voice coil is rated at 250watts), right? 60 watts seems low, that's why I ask.

    Thanks for help

I didn't model it, but is seems safe to assume that for that size cab it will exceed xmax at low frequencies at that power level. Use a smaller cab, or the active HP filter they suggest.

Load the parameters into WinISD alpha, and you should be able to verify this, and see the effects of the HP filter.

Do as curt said and then look at the xmax graph at different watts. You will be surprised what you discover. For example, the Dayton Rs225s are rated at 80 watts RMS/120 watts max. I got two in parallel and they reach their limit at 60 watts. How much sound is that putting out? About 108db my friend. In a room that's very loud if you get my drift. Now you can pump more but if you do and on a certain note then you could exceend xmax. You probably won't hear it but it's happening and it happens a lot more than what people are aware of. That's why I know on my 3.5 way that I shouldn't exceed 60 watts. Anyway it's even more complex than this but you get the point without being technical. Cheers, Paul
