Default Parts Express Let One Slip

Well upone further inspection of one of my Two BS3's I have found that one of my BS3's suround was not properly glued down. Where a section of the suround meets the fram the glue did not stick and it lays there. I gusse i will have to wait until Monday to bring this to Parts Express's attention because i have made this dicovery at 7:15pm this Saterday and Parts Express is not open. I am not mad at Parts Express, I am however disapointed because I was really looking forward to having these things build by next week.
My question is should I atempt to reglue the rubber with an epoxy or should I just wait and see what Parts Express will do for me?
    TIA Trevor G.

    Trevor,

I had exactly the same problem with one of the pair of B3Ss I ordered some time ago. Wait until Monday and call Customer Service. They'll send you a replacement and probably tell you not to bother with returning the defective one. If that's the case, then you can try reattaching the surround. However, don't monkey with it until you've spoken to them and you know whether you need to return the defective unit or not.

You don't want to attach the rubber with epoxy; if any epoxy were to get on the roll part of the surround it'd stiffen it up and it might buzz. You need a flexible adhesive. Rubber cement might work.

The real culprit is likely the box the driver came in. It's not well designed, and I'm convinced that the driver shifted in the box and the edge of the cardboard cutout around the face of the driver got forced against the edge of the surround and peeled it off the mounting flange. It doesn't make any difference to you, of course, but PE might want to look into it.

    Best regards,
    Bill

Default Actually that is Hi-Vi's error...

PE pays for, and expects the QA to be done by the manufacturer. I'm sure they do spot checks, but realistically, they can't check each driver prior to shipment.

Cheaper to fix than pay the return freight.

If PE will send out a call tag and another woofer without delay, then don't fix it, otherwise get this stuff at any hardware store.
