IR Repeater for Plasma TV?
Hi I have a plasma TV and I was wondering what would be some options to extend or repeat my IR signal from my remotes to my receivers. I would like to hide my Sat, DVD & Home theatre in a closet behind the TV but still controll them with their own remotes. Is this possible? I have heard varying stories about Plasma TV's emitting requencies that will make this sort of setup impossible. Any suggestions would be great.
Re: IR Repeater for Plasma TV?
I have a plasma and an IR system. The one that I am using is very similar (probably made by same company) as what PE sells in their Xantech line. I use the set-top IR receiver.
If within 18" or so, it doesn't work worth a crap. I placed it on a shelf high up and it works pretty good (except with DirecTV for some reason).
I got a high-dollar receiver made for plasmas and it worked great...but was way more expensive. I ended up selling it to a customer and went back to using the first one.
You may have to work around with placement...a real bitch if you are using one that mounts in a J-Box. If so, place it a long ways away, low in an inconspicuous (sp?) area and should work great. personally, these are my favorite but not in use in my own setups right now.
