speakers
hello,
I am buiding some speakers for my entertainment center. Have no clue.
I am interested in something that will give the full range, but would not mind purchasing a subwoofer if need be....but I dont know if I do or not. Like to keep it cheap.
thanks

I built a set (3) of these for my niece's family room home theater. Sound pretty good and are fairly cheap.

For a sub, a sealed 12" using a Quattro 12 would be excellent.
Lots of other ideas though, so keep looking.

They sounded pretty good. The tweeter is pretty smooth and it matches up well with two of the B3Ns which are low sensitivity. They go down to about 90Hz, so a sub is needed to provide some bass substance. Overall, they're detailed and have a nice tonal balance.
You could do a smaller box with just one woofer, but then the tweeter would need alot of padding.

or what if you made the speaker a tad bigger and used say a tb 6.5in sub vented? maybe sidefiring sub or even a tb 8in sub sealed with some eq and a 240pe amp.

You could do that. My task for these was to do small main and center channel for my niece. I then installed in-ceiling surrounds. I also built them a 2.5 cu.ft. sub with a 15" driver and a 120 watt amp which I had laying around. Works great.
