Default Opinions sought on my newest project: *PIC*

Starting with a gracious donation of a pair of 17” diameter spheres from Wayne W, and vowing to not design yet another rectangular enclosure, I strove for a different look with my RS 3.5 way. –Unfortunately my aesthetic sensibilities may not be mainstream enough for most. Wayne is the consummate cabinetmaker though, as you can see from the fine piano black finish.

The Exclamations! -So named for obvious reasons, shown next to the 3 ft tall TriTrix for scale.

Default OMG, Curt, those just suck massively

    NOT.

    Let's see.

A God walking among us on crossover design.

    And now this.

    I feel so . . . inadequate.

Personally, I think they should be called the Cult . . . named after the Church of Curtology, of course . . . but they are your speakers and you have naming rights.

Oh, and not necessarily BTW, need I even ask if they sound like 20 year old single malt tastes: smooth, warm, and sensuous?

Or, as Ralph Wiggum from the Simpsons would say, "It tastes like burning!"

Seriously, though, it looks like the tweeter is at more than 40" off the floor. Given that seated listening is about 36" (34" with a good slouch going on), is that intentional off-axis? Or are they meant to be listened to on bar stools? ;-)

And Curt, do you do all your own measurements?

    Default I Like It...

The geometric design resembles the new space age architecture (sp?). Definitely a centerpiece and puts my 3.5 way rectangular box to shame :-). I know you love the sound of that nice tight bass from those dual vented RS225s as much as I do in those 100+ liter boxes too. The only thing that surprised me was that I thought you were going with the RS52 vs the RS180 for the mid. I don't think you will have to worry about maxing the xmax on the mid :-). Very nice and I sure wish I could hear them. Paul

As I already told you from the drawing you sent me, I like their looks and I'm glad to see what they look like in real life.

Default Peeeeeeeee-uke!!!!! Part II. Geez Curt

And Wayne too, but that is one of the coolest looks I've seen. Way beyond the average DIY undertaking to say the least. Wax 'em up with some snake oil and hawk 'em off to the fools. Make millions and retire early.

Great job. I've gotta get off my **** and get my project started in earnest. Thanks to you, Curt and Bob and Wayne, I'm feeling some speaker envy boiling up and I have to at least come close to what I've seen today.

    Curt,

I'd rather see them in rectangular boxes, with perfect 90 degree corners.

    Just kidding. Beautiful stuff.

    Hey Dan,
It looks the the alien leader of 'Mars Attacks'. All thats needed is the upward lift collar between the base and sphere.

Watch out Jack Nickelson or you'll become green dust!
