Hafler p-230 review!
Well, i think i've listened long enough to give a good review so here goes. Also, i stole my da135/neo MT's back for the weekend so i could test it out. I love selling stuff to friends, they always let you have it back! This testing was also used an adcom pre, and technics cd player.
Well, first off, Dick W is an awesome guy to do business with! He answeared all my questions no matter how stupid, and gave me an awesome deal! His packing is beyond anything i've ever seen done. Trying to get that amp out of the box was something else! Thier was the box covered in tape, then the packing foam, then peanuts, then big bubble bubble wrap (about 3 layers) then 2 layers of little bubble bubble wrap! Yet somehow ups still managed to break the mains switch. But, i have Dick and the rest of the guys here to help me out! So if anyone that reads this and needs a new amp talk to Dick W FIRST. As i think hes got a couple of these left...
Oh yeah, the amp...
I have to say its the best sounding piece of metal that ever entered my house. The thing is built like a rock (except for the switch). No plastic on this beast. The speaker terminals are well made but look like they could take a max of 16ga bare wire. Okay for me though as i use bananna plugs. Mine came already upgraded with very nice looking rca inputs. Also, when i got it the thing looks like it was brand new! The inside was completly clean and dust free, and the case is in awesome shape!
The imaging was the most improved compared to my old reciever. Everything is exactly where it should be and locked on. Bass, midrange and highend detail have improved alot compared to my old "amp". It drives my small speakers with ease. I'm going to bypass the ps caps with some poly's to see if that makes a differance.
All and all i'm very happy with this purchase. Dick could not have done a better job, and i hope to do business with him again.
Thank you so much Dick and the rest that helped me in my decision!
P.S. I probably missed something so let me know if i did.
P.s.s. I'll be adding to this once i get the Silver Al's built (should be monday) so stay tuned in kiddies.
Re: Hafler p-230 review!
What do you guy's think about 2uf poly's and then a .33uf film (dayton) on each of the ps caps? Or would i need more capacitance for it to be worth it?
