Default Distributing a camera video signal on all TV's

I am installing a CCTV video system in our second home. I want to be able to switch to a channel or input on any TV in the house and be able to view the cameras. There will be two or three cameras and they have a color video signal that is sent over BNC/Composite video cable.

Every TV is hooked up to a satellite TV receiver, and each receiver is hooked up to an RG6 line that goes to the attic to the satellite dish.

I saw that parts express has the video distribution systems but they seem to be only for antenna/cable channels, would this work in any way with the satellite receivers?

It will work with DirecTV receivers so long as they have a terrestrial antenna input. If not, no. DSS works off of different frequencies and requires balanced voltage. A multi-switch is the only way to go utilizing it's terrestrial input...and I think enables OTA programming of individual channels? I can do it with my HD Tivos anyhow by using a good balanced/amplified distribution hub.

Oh, all the cameras have to be connected to a common cable/antenna switch to send a single signal to either the reciever or the multi-switch. I would use a good balanced/amplified switch here too.

Somewhere there has to be modulation of signal. Set the modulators to whatever channel you want (either separate modulator or some cameras they are built in) in the low-mid channels that are empty and relatively close together. I really used to like 70-79 until HD came along (not complaining though).

    Your set.

    Simon,
If I understood you correctly , you would like to hook up your CCTV to your MATV system, you will need a video modulator to be able to view your camera and tuned them to a diffrent channel for each camera, Part Number 180-318, since I don't fully know what you have on your home you may need a combiner to mixed these signal to your MATV.
    I hope that help.

    Default Short answer: No.

The signal to the satellite TV set-top is the same signal that's sent to the dish, just shifted to a lower frequency. It does not in any way, shape or form resemble the composite video signal from the CCTV cameras.

It is possible, with the proper equipment, to combine this signal with the camera output and then split it off ahead of each set-top, routing it instead to the video input of the TV. However, this is not a job for an amateur, as you can damage things if you don't do it correctly. There may be packaged systems that have all the parts to do this, as it's likely a common application, but having not researched the market, I don't know of any.

Alternately, you could construct a separate distribution system for the CCTV cameras using NRSC modulators, a separate coax, and the NTSC inputs on your TVs. the downside is that you need to run a separate coax to each TV for this. If your walls are still open, this is reasonable.
