It used to be that they used a technique called BI-FILAR winding. You double the wire over and wrap the doubled cord around a core.
This causes two equal, but opposite, magnetic fields to be induced, these fields cancel each other and therefore produce no inductive reactance to AC.

I’m glad you brought up the inductive verses non-inductive resistors. If you remember the pic that someone posted of the PE resistor and so called true non-inductive resistor.
The so-called ‘true’ non-inductive resistor is NOT wound according to the above definition. It’s more of a serpentine shape.
So the real argument should be that real non-inductive aren’t wound and shouldn’t be called wound.
I’ve been waiting to bring this up.

I think i'm gonna put my schools 2k$ LC meter to use and compare a few of the "Non-inductive" dayton resistors too the xicon 10w wirewound.
I'll try a few differant values like 1, 5, 10, 30 ohms. Testing oughta solve this arguement.

There is not enough inductance in the Dayton non-inductive resistors to make a difference unless maybe the resistance is huge.
I’m not picking on the Daytons only pointing out that true non-inductive resistors aren’t wound they are more of a snaking shape construction.
So for the precision word use police this could be an issue.

One or more responders did just that, finding, if not absolutely zero inductance, exceedingly small inductance that couldn't possibly affect the audio range. The original poster who accused PE of misleading or false advertisement really came off looking unstellar, IMO.

So are the 10w wirewounds ok to use? It'd save some money, so buying inductors would be a little easier...

Yes.
And I could test them on our $15K LC meter and even plot you a few images!

Hmmm... I don't know i kinda like the gold plated leads on the daytons, i think it makes my midrange sound a little smoother. Heheheheh...
