Thread: JBL 2020H

    Default JBL 2020H

Please could you recommend a suitable replacement for JBL 2020 H Drive units, as uk prices are too expensive.
The application is sports stadium maintenance programm in the UK, for public address / voice alarm and entertainment purposes.
The loudspeakers are 16 OHM, JBL 9042 and use the following: 1 x JBL 2447 J HF unit, and 2 x JBL M121 8. Powered by JBL MPX 1200, EQ via Allen heath DR128. Cheers steve Brown.

Just find a driver with the same Vas, Fs, and Qts, and it'll drop right in the box. Your xo might need modifying unless the new driver also has the same response curve and rolloff.

This may seem like sacrelige to some people, but I would DEFINITELY say the Peavey Black Widow 12 should work. They're about half the cost of the JBL 2020H, IIRC. May require a bit of crossover re-tuning (though, I'd expect the Peavey to have a similar rising response to the JBL... but the T/S parameters are RIGHT ON...

Default One thing comes to mind...

Why not recone the M121-8s? Recone kits are MUCH cheaper than replacing drivers. Are some of the M121s missing?

If not, reconing would be a viable option... from just a simple Google search for "JBL M121", I found a UK supplier of recone kits... only 85 UK pounds or so. That's probably cheaper than a Black Widow 12, over there...

    Regards,
    Gordon.
