Default Garage Stereo (one for PE) *PIC*

    Hi Guys,

    It's been a long time.

This is something I've always wanted to do and it has worked out better than I thought. Inspired by the old (and now unavailable) Adire HE 10.1, it is an off the shelf Eminence system around the Beta 10CX, APT50, 3.5KHz XO and a couple of Lpads.

The Eninence XO's work very well, and I am still surprised about just how good these sound with "stock" XO's.

I just don't have much room in the house, so I found a way to install this in the garage (rafters) so that it doesn't take up any floor space.

Here is the install and worked out very nicely. These are just hanging between the rafters and are not attached at all. They are the Hi Quality Studio Monitor Style boxes, 3 cu-ft, tuned to 35 Hz. They are very good.

Just sent in the order for resistors so I can "fix" the Lpad and remove those adjustable ones.

The obigatory driver shot. You can see the horn lens thru the transparent dust cover.

Here is the APT50 installed on the back of the Beta.

You have to love Eminence for the factory sealing gasket on the rear of the mounting flange.

Default Ha! The temptation returns to build those!

I would like to do a project with those co-axials eventually. Don't ask me why because I don't need more unused speakers and drivers in my house but it's an idea I like. Do you have a parts list handy that you could send my way? I would greatly appreciate it because at this point I'm burning out on designing stuff myself. It would be a good change of pace to build something I didn't have to conceptualize from start to finish.

    Default Box design

    Provided Link: design pdf

    Hi Shawn,

The box I made is 15.5"x16.5"x25.5". The depth was so that I could just cut strips off of a quarter sheet of ply.

Mine uses just a simple cross brace in the middle.

The Beta 10CX, APT50, 3.5 KHz XO, and APT3 adapter are all at PE. In addition I used the nice Dayton binding posts, 10" 2 pc grills, 50 watt 1" Lpads and don't forget the .205" female disconnects.

All of this stuff is from PE and costs about $300 for both speaks. Worth every penny, it really sounds good!

    Have fun!

I put together an Eminance Alpha 10 , into an old bose 501 box and left the funky high end cone tweeters. Added a simple 2 way xover at 2.5K and this system rocks. Eminance makes a nice sounding speaker for garage, or any big room. I would do it again in a flash, and would recommend it to anyone.
