Room Responce, With My Subwoofer *PIC*

Okay well i used Win ISD Pro to see what my subwoofers current responce is... Below is what you get, could this be why im so unhapy with my results, or is my room eating up my bass, as i can see it would apper that my bass is strong, but it looks like my sub puts out too much bass at 60hz which may be overpowering all my other note and making things sound poor... What do you guys think? I will post a link to my room layout... For refrence of the current placement of my subwoofer and seating postion...

Re: What sub and size box you have?
I have memphis power refernce single voice coil subwoofer in a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 37hz.

Re: What sub and size box you have?
Try tuning lower, like down around 20hz in winisd.

Provided Link: Daryl's Speaker Stuff.
Hi Trevor,
That is not a room response curve as room response will have many fluctuations.
That looks like maybe you had the mic directly in front of the cone and is still very smooth for an actual measurement.
It looks more like a simulation of a poorly designed subwoofer.
How exactly was that arrived at?
Below you can see my rooms transfer function (inroom response / half-space response) both raw and smoothed.

got to www.memphiscaraudio.com then under tech support you will find a pdf document that has specs on the power reference subwoofers, from there you can get your specs

What size sub?
I can make a guess that since it is an automotive subwoofer, you can totally expect poor in-room response.
Or, the subwoofer is just not a very good one and has inflated/incorrect specs.
Or, the box is tuned improperly.

Or better yet, just the Fs, Vas, and Qts.

Re: Room Responce, With My Subwoofer
From an earlier thread: his room happens to be 10' by 14' which I'm presuming to have a lot to do with why he's not getting much below 38Hz. Someone's suggested basstraps to help get him more extention for his future setup.
Also, while I may be preaching to the choir here, I tend not to trust the Q/S parameters sourced from car sub manufacturers. That's the only thing that might lead me to second-guess any modeling.

I hate to disagree being that I'm not exactly an expert on the subject. But just because it is an automotive subwoofer does not mean it can't produce adequate bass in a home. Just may not sound the same because of more open space around it. I've been using a 10" car sub in home myself. Funny thing about mine is that its 20-125 watts rms (375 peak) and I only have 40watts rms going into it. (sub is 4 ohm, stereo amplifier is good for 8 ohm+) Sitting right in front of the sub will not sound as good. But I can go upstairs and feel the floor shaking and it will sound as if someone is parked out front of my house blasting a pair of 12's in their car.

A sub in a too-small enclosure with a peak at 60 Hz will rattle the walls.
The odds of it actually reaching the lowest octaves are pretty slim.
Don't confuse"rattle and bang" for real bass.

Re: Call it "Thumper"
That's a car sub, right? That's what it's made to do.
Seriously, if you have enough room on the business end, enlarge the hole to 13 7/8" and plug the port. Insert a Q15, and you have a 0.72Q sealed box.
