OT: Can't install update of Macromedia Flash

Had the old 7.0 version. Uninstalled to put new 9.0 on my machine. Can't install. Now I cannot see anything on half the websites I go to but that stinking little box in the corner. Maddening. Have tried everything. Ahhhhh.
