Amp for PC speaker
Anyone know where to get a good PC speaker amplifier, kit or otherwise? I saw the Sonic Impact ones on the PE site, the Super-T looks real nice but is a bit pricey. Neither one has any specs.. Anyone know of a PC speaker amp that could be built into the speakers instead of being a separate piece?
Thanks a ton guys,
Todd

I have used these... *PIC*

Provided Link: 12W Amp Module
...with reasonably good results. Assuming you aren't trying to rattle the room, only get a decent amount of volume, this works great.
You will have to buy two, mount one in each speaker, and power each with a wall wart.
At $10 each, you really can't go wrong.
Hope that helps...

Re: Amp for PC speaker
Mentioned a couple weeks ago, there is the nice looking one from Rat Shack that is the amp module for their 110v "wireless" system for about $20.
Mentioned in the last couple days by a couple of the regulars a 6x30 bridgeable (3x60) from ebay that looks way too sweet for $30.
Search for a minute and you'll find both these references.

Re: Amp for PC speaker
Right now on the 'bay, there's a guy selling some BSG/Zapco amps... 30 watts x 6 channels, bridgeable to 3... That gives you plenty for a small sub, and left/right...

Re: Amp for PC speaker
I always use an old receiver. I like the fidelity, the flexibility and the price. If you've got the desk space, I highly recommend it. Sometimes I feel like listening to the radio, or playing a cd without using up computer resources, or having the audio from the TV that's on in the other room and having a stand-alone system that's also got an input from one of the tape loops on my main system works nicely for that.
Best of all, everybody has a spare receiver or 12 laying around the house (or is that just me???), but if you don't, you can find them on Ebay for close to nothing. You can even find some of those mini receivers from Denon or Onkyo occasionally if you want something smaller, or maybe something with a built in cd player.
A cheap surround sound receiver also helps give you more subwoofer wiring options.

"I always use an old receiver."
I'm with Jim on this one. I have a 30 year old NAD lookin' at me now with a pair of Polk RT25i's. Be sure to upgrade your sound card. I prefer M-Audio; I have a 2496 in my PC. Very good for music, and it offers both analog RCA outputs as well as digital connections.

Re: Amp for PC speaker
hmm...
I've got three recievers in my house, and only one in service on my computer system. If you are planning on just a stereo set of speakers i would suggest a reciever, if you are using a sub, then either a reciever with a sub preout or one of the all-in-one amplifiers would be a good idea.
A 3ch chipamp would be a fun project.....

Re: AJ, you'll love this one.....
I have my yamaha set up sideways in my locker wired into the catwalk above my hallway, super-antenna at the bottom of the locker, with some el-cheapo speaks, it's interesting when the dogs come around. I'm thinking of doing a "LockerZuma" that will hang in my locker using amps modules from Apex Jr.
fun

ANSWER:Madisound has EXACTLY the unit of your dreams-KG-3100. I'm really suprised nobody mentioned it since most people frequent both sites frequently.
