Thread: sub parameters

  1. #1

    Default sub parameters

Hello to anyone: I bought a JBL PRO Sub 1500 a couple of years ago from P.E. I'm just now getting ready to do something with it. Is anyone familiar with this thing? I play bass and I was actually thinking of building it into a sound reinforcement speaker. I think it would overpower anything I have in my house high fidelity wise. I have several high end systems but they all have 10s for low end and work just fine. Help please?

If its Qts = 0.32, and its Fs = 25, and its Vas = 128 liters, then it seems suited to duty in a 2 cf vented box, tuned to 31 Hz, where it would have an F3 in the mid 30's. A 4"d x 14" port would do the trick, although it would be prone to "chuffing".

It should do mid 50's in 1 cf, sealed and stuffed.

Thanks, but where did those Thiel numbers come from? If I knew the specs. I could model an enclosure with software that I have, but lacking the parameters, I'd be guessing. I believe a tech. guy at PE had told me he thought the driver was designed for 1.7 cu. ft. I emailed JBL but haven't heard anything. Appearance wise it resembles current eon 1500 array driver. It has a four inch vc. and was rated at 700w. rms. I have the flexibility of putting it in any size cab.

If its PE part # is 299-750, then Darren measured its frd/zma data and you can download it. He just listed it as "JBL 1500 sub".

Some of the other parms are:
    Re 2.9 ohms
    Fs 25.4 Hz
    Dia 330 mm
    Qms 4.91
    Qes 0.34
    Qts 0.32
    L1K 1.84 mH
    L10K 1.15 mH
    Vas 128.04 liters
    dBSPL 94.3 dB
