Okay... What darn file format...
Took a handful of CDs and ripped 'em to wav files. Turned around, and played 'em (via pcdj) - I've played files offa this laptop before without too much bad strangeness, and this was just....
YECH.
I musta screwed SOMETHING up... The bass sounds horrid, and the whole mess sounds like something dropped a load of concrete in the back seat.

What did you use to rip your songs?
Are you sure your playback app doesn't have some EQ settings turned on?
I'm pretty sure that the quality of a WAV file is variable too, so maybe go back and check the details.

Re: Okay... What darn file format...
What type of drive did you use to rip the cds? I just ripped a few cds to wav files the other day, first using my DVD drive. The results were disgusting, a few tracks were ok, but the rest were horribly garbled and totally unusable. I tried reripping them using my CDRW drive, and not only did it go a lot faster, the ripped tracks turned out perfectly.
Just something to think about.

These were all done on the laptop's DVD drive. I guess I'll try the desktop's drive next - it's what I used before.

Re: Okay... What darn file format...
Some ripping programs are definitely better than others. I suggest you use EAC (exact audio copy) and rip in high security mode. It will take longer to rip the cd but it is worth it.
