Default Review added to the Alpheus MkII project page... *PIC*

Provided Link: RJB Audio Projects - Alpheus MkII

My friend Pete (not any of the Pete's that frequent these discussion boards) who helped me tune the crossovers in my Alpheus MkII speakers through various listening sessions has provided a review of the speakers. I was pleasantly surprised at how much praise he gave them and would have to agree with his impressions regarding the character of their sound. Click the link below to read his review at the bottom of the page. I apologize for promoting my own design but I really like these speakers and was excited when my friend provided his review.

No need to apologize. That's what DIYers do. Why create something (especially when it turns out better than we expected) and not share it?

    Roman,

Nice looking design. How about the mid? Is it as accurate as I have heard it is?

Looks like a very nice design Roman. I would be remiss to not mention that you've kept a low profile of late and it is good to see you back around.

Thanks! To my ears the mid is very clear sounding and I was able to tune it for a fairly neutral sound. The distortion seems low and it is very smooth sounding. It has a high level of clarity without the etched detail that can make some drivers fatiguing. I'm pretty happy with it as well as the other drivers in the design.

Thank you! I started getting comfortable with my Asterion design until I got the itch to try to "fix" the Alpheus speakers that were gathering dust and I am really glad that I did. I've been trying to work on some new tutorials on speaker design concepts but I have so much to cover that it is taking a bit of time to get the web pages developed. One thing that I've been working on since this summer is a guide to speaker design focusing on crossover design. The basic "textbook crossover" stuff that is out there now is insufficient to cover the wide range of crossover design methods. I have it partially finished but still have a lot of stuff to add. I'm sure I'll post the finished product eventually but at least I'm still learning in the process.

Roman, thanks for all your work! Your skills are most excellent...anything that can help me learn more about XO design, I'm there! Looking forward to the "finished product"!
