Default Dayton 8, 10 and 12 inch subs

Anyone have any real world usage opinions on this trio? I have a medium sized living room in an apartment and looking to fill in the bottom end of my bookshelf speakers. Something reasonably small would be nice.

I mostly watch movies and play games with occasional music listening.

I really have my eye on the 8inch and 10inch models. I know the older 10 and 12 inch got favorable marks.

    Thoughts?

Hi Todd, are you talking about the already-built subs? My sister has the 10" version, though it's a few years old. Not sure how the new ones are different, but it's a solid performer. She used to have an Advent 12" w/amp, but it was lacking compared to the Dayton. As you can tell, I'm not a fan of retail brands...I worked in high-end audio for too long! The Dyton cabinet is better built. I think that's why the Dayton had more defined, articulate bass; not boomy at all. Of course, this depends on your room and the sub location. We experimented with location and found the right spot. She's using the Bravox/Tang Band MTM (Vance Dickason's design) project speakers for the other 5 channels. I modified those "book" speakers for her. Works excellent with the Dayton sub. Here's a pic of the little speakers...
