Refurbing JBL LX-600

I've picked up a set of JBL LX-600's and have a couple of questions.

3-way 10"W - 5"M -1"T
Freq resp. 40hz - 23khz
Crossover 800hz - 4.7khz
Rear port

1. Refoam woofers or replace with DAYTON DC250-8 10" CLASSIC WOOFER Frequency response: 25-2,500 Hz?

2. Move port to front from rear?

3. If re-foaming woofers would you re-port for lower frequency?

3. If going with Daytons would you re-port it for lower frequency?

Refoam the woofers. Don't make any other changes.

The reason I was thinking of performing a retrofit on these was due to their age (1994).

Some of the reviews mentioned their lack of bass and this was attributed to the port being in the back.

I would wait until at least two drivers go kablooie before retrofitting with other drivers. The 10" DC woofer is Okaaaay... But if the JBL is anything like others I've seen, it is way better than the Dayton classic line. The replacement part is $115 from JBL. I bet it's no slouch.

Position the speakers on short stands on the floor or nearer the walls for more subjective bass.
